After watching 'Please homer don't hammer'em'
Making some discussion subjects.
1. In this video, I can find socio-cultural feminism. Even though Marge has a great ability as a carpenter, she cannot get even a piece of work. The reason is just she is a woman. Everybody agrees that women and men are different biologically, which makes women got discriminated by men socially and culturally.
Let' s think about the sociocultural feminism presented in this episode. Be specific! Can you find any evidence from this episode?
2. People hardly recognize the thing as it is without prejudice or preconception. Prejudice keeps us from seeing the truth. Can you point out the examples of prejudices common to our daily lives in this episode?
3. In the first part of video, Marge was fixing the wood floor by chance. She feels a sense of accomplishment while she is working. She is making and fixing many things by wood and moreover trying to find a job as a carpenter.
Like this situation, the accomplishment is being an important motivation to decide our major or career. Do you agree or disagree with the arguments that the creators of this episode wanted to teach this lesson to their viewers?
After watching 'Ice cream of margie'
I was prticipating the discussion
Q. IPOD treated human beings as slaves and whipped them . So what is the message you have got from this scene? What is the advantage and disadvantage of each analog love and digital love?
KERIN. The end of episode, the author shows a contrast scene to viewers. There are two group of people. One group is controlling electronics and the other is dominated by electronics.
Nowadays we are using computers that could be thinking itself or something like electronics vice versa we are depending on it. The problem is absolutely belief from electronics. I think people are using and developing electronics carefully and they give up their belief which is a sence of stability from excessive automation.
Q. Homer Simpson found a new job which was interesting for him after he got fired. After he changed his work from a nuclear plant inspector to an ice-cream seller, he really enjoyed his work. By watching this episode, viewers may conclude that this cartoon emphasizes that people have to get a job that they really like. What do you think about this argument?
KERIN. In this fore part of episode, Homer was fired by his boss becasue he played hocky at his work place. On the contrast, after he get a new job that he really likes, he was working hardly even his wife's exibition day.
Like this, people can get interesting from their job that they really like and enjoy. They could get motivation and also resposibility from their desire when they was working
