Reflection

Writing

I wrote three of papers that are the thesis, the research paper and the artistic statement. At the first, I made lots of grammar errors, but it was being improved through this class. Not only writing correctly without grammar errors but also how to write logically and clearly is important to write papers. During revising the artistic statement, Amy visited our class and gave some advices to write it. When I wrote my artistic statement, I did not make some clues that help sentences connected to make sense. During write the thesis, I had to know how to write each paragraph, such as introduction, bodies and conclusion. And also, I learned about paraphrasing citations. For the first time I had in trouble the way to writing papers. But now, I think I have confidence to write papers.

Speaking

This part is the most weakness of my English skill. In the class, we presented our processing of papers in front of camera. And also we discussed with each other. After discussion, I saw our video and listened what I said. For the first time I was nervous to speak in English in front of camera and peers, but it was been familiar during in class. Trough self evaluation, I can realize what is my problem. I could not make sentences fast before I was saying. I had to organize what I will say and make correct sentences fast. And also pronounce was be problem. The biggest problem of pronounce is alphabet ‘R’ and ‘L’, because these words are not existing in my native language. Even though I tried to improve my speaking English skill, speaking part is really difficult to me.

Reading

In the class we read some reading materials, such as articles and episodes. Not only these materials but researching resources was being helping to me. I had to write the thesis, so I need any of background knowledge. During researching, I read lots of books about Le Corbusier. If I found a good expression, I tried to remember that, and tried to write in my paper. I think there is no easiest way to improving reading skill except reading lots of books.

Listening

We wrote the researching paper about The Simpsons, so we need to see the animation. I saw six episodes of The Simpsons. First time, I just saw that animation, and then next time I saw it again with transcript that I downloaded. After see is again and again, I could understand it totally.
